Or whatever steps in between that don't preserve case. But if
lowercase works, then I'd go for base-64 and avoid division...

PS If the addresses are far enough apart (because of the size of the
block) then encoding the 20 most significant bits should be unique
enough (eg 2K blocks in a 2G address space)
