Mr Geissbuehler,

Different kinds of people having very different views of the world
come together here. They would seldom have much to say to, or even
encounter, each other elsewhere; and this sometimes makes
communication difficult.

We are all creatures of our experience, and we experience the same
things differently. I recently monitored the development of a
hospital general-ledger system that I had designed for a client,
friend, and classmate. I used the same techniques in doing so that I
should use in building a LISP interpreter or a transaction processor.
Functional objectives do not, in my view, dictate processing
strategies at all. Cultures dictate them. Business systems are
mostly without explicit design because the tradition in which they are
built takes other approaches to its problems.

My diction is mine. I am unlikely to change it at my age, and I am
not at all sure that I could do so even if I wanted to. Moreover,
there is a simple remedy available to anyone who he distressed by it.
He or she need not read my posts or even see them. Kill lists exist
to permit anyone of us to dispense with even seeing boring or noxious
posts.
