Where I work, there's a significant amount of code that uses MVCL - apparently because of it's support for padding. In turn, presumably (it's from before my time) because of historic benefits over an EXecuted MVC combination. I've been pulling them out if/when I have to touch those pieces of code - even a simple BCTR loop times out faster, particularly for less than/equal 255 chars (which is the majority or our usage).
