Anyhow, if your computer runs VM, you don't have to write assembler at all (and if it runs MVS, make your requirement known to IBM).

The instruction you want is PACK, but you must remove all punctuation first. To do that you must copy the contents of the input buffer to a temporary buffer, omitting all punctuation, even the decimal point.

And then you must read the manual very carefully.

It boggles the mind why this question was asked at all in this context.
