Thanks. I was going by the book at:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSENW6_1.6.0/com.ibm.hlasm.v1r6.asma100/asmp102124.htm
and was specifically looking for ARCH and didn't really see MACHINE(...).
So there is a functional equivalent, but it's not syntactically identical.
