P.S. I saw the recommendations re DCBE and the like after I sent the note 
below; for this really simple, 99.9%-of-the-time-the-last-thing-we-ever-do 
case, I think I'm going to stick with the simplest approach. And yes, I see 
that we don't really need a separate CLOSE prototype, but again, I'm in 
leave-things-alone-as-much-as-possible mode. But I do appreciate it and will 
save the wisdom in case I need it later.
