This looks reasonable. I can even make sense of the diffs. I may make some beautifying changes after applying it.
One thing that I think you can avoid is the WIN32 version of daemonize_me -- or at least I _intended_ to make it where you can avoid it. But your way might be cleaner. I'll have to look at it all in context. I intended it to be based off HAVE_FORK - which I probably don't check for - but just hard-code. I'll apply this patch. Thanks for making them more bite-sized.
