I'm going to add a very simple notification API as soon as I can get
around to it.
Create a directory named something like /etc/assimilation/notify.d
Get the list of executable files in that directory.
Sort them alphabetically
Run them with "suitable" arguments and environment.
The environment variables would probably start with something like "ASSIM_"
