The SysAdmin is responsible for maintaining the integrity and security of Bose Corporation’s production servers, which support Business processes such as SAP global landscape, PeopleSoft, Siebel and Windchill in addition to other development and end user systems serving all of Bose Corporation. The SysAdmin is expected to conduct system analysis and development, with limited support and direction from other staff, to keep systems current with changing technologies as well as supporting Bose project initiatives. The SysAdmin is responsible for emergency on call response as needed to correct system failures. The SysAdmin assists in the maintenance of Bose Corporation’s production systems and also provides support to Bose Corporation end users as needed in the use of the platform, both as a server and a client operating system. The SysAdmin should possess significant experience in system administration with a concentration in UNIX however with Windows server experience as well. As new technologies emerge and impact our systems, the SysAdmin is expected to learn these technologies quickly and resolve any problems involved in integrating new technologies with our systems. The SysAdmin is a key technical resources for other Staff, providing advice, training and technical support for various projects. In addition, the SysAdmin works closely with professional technical staff in the IT management team in evaluating current systems and making decisions on future development. The expectation is for the SysAdmin will be on site during the hours defined as the core hours of Bose and participate in the on call rotation with the other administrators. Other employment policies would mirror those considered and standard Bose policies as defined by Human Resources. Additional tasks such as weekly status reports and project updates are also core deliverables of this position • Effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff • Self-directed and self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as productively in teams • Proficiency in producing technical documentation utilizing standard Microsoft products • Demonstrated success with administrative and organizational skills • Ability to manage projects • Experience prioritizing tasks and delegating responsibility. • Two to three years experience working with at least one variant of UNIX/Linux • Previous programming or scripting experience scripting (i.e. BASH shell, C shell or Korn shell) • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance • A good problem solver • Proven Mature unix consultant and has experience working in an Onsite-Offshore Model and Co-ordinating activities/tasks • Proficiency with UNIX (e.g. AIX, Solaris, Linux) and Windows Server operating systems • knowledge of standard backup infrastructures • UNIX & Windows system and program installation, compilation and configuration • System-level security procedures • Talent at diagnosing and remedying serious server related problems and/or failures promptly and effectively • Working knowledge of VMware/Vsphere technologies or other Hypervisors • Experience maintaining servers for standard internet services such as NFS, Samba, LPR printing, CUPS, and FTP services • Experience and talent diagnosing LAN/WAN based TCP/IP issues • Familiarity with SAN storage technologies *First year Expectations* • Success in supporting current Unix landscape including patching and end user requirements • Identifying processes and tasks suitable for Off Shore support • Documenting standard procedures • Demonstrated ability to provision AIX & Linux systems in a virtual environment • Success in providing support for SAN Storage provisioning • Success in supporting SAN/Storage maintenance activities • Integration into on call support rotation for both Servers and SAN • Demonstrated success in participation for three to four projects or initiatives 2 to 5 years -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Associate Programs" group.
