*Interview mode: Phone then F2F* *Job Description:-* *The current legacy Criminal application is being converted from an OpenVMS (RMS) file system to a .NET Web application with a relational SQL Server 2012 database backend. * *The current system interfaces, reports and file transfers handled by the host VMS application, need to be developed for the new SQL Server 2012 application. * This will require analysis of existing processes, interaction with business users to determine needs, modifications and new methods of sending and receiving information within the agency as well as across agencies. The successful candidate should be able to analyze the existing file structures and reports to determine and document the data items required for data going to and/or from the new relational SQL database. *They must have a thorough knowledge of relational database systems and excellent proficiency of SQL Server 2005/2012 and SQL BI tools. * *They will be required to develop the data processes to send, receive and report data using SQL SSIS packages, * *SQL Reporting services, FTP and VB.Net Web Services.* *Scope of Services* The scope of services required for the Software Engineer includes: •*Have excellent proficiency with SQL relational databases.* *•Develop SSIS packages, FTP processes and SQL reports using SQL Server 2012 BI tools.* *Be able to develop .Net components using Microsoft Visual Studio 2012.* Have an excellent understanding of error handling and recovery. Perform comprehensive unit testing, system integration and performance testing. Commit to working within coding standards. Write clear and concise technical documentation to identify and define data translations and error processes. Be able to work independently as well as interacting successfully with other project team members. Share ideas as part of the project team that provides solutions to technical issues. Minimal travel (short distances) may be required to attend meetings with the business customers. Presentation skills to explain and transfer knowledge to other team members. Preparation of periodic status reports. *Minimum Qualifications* *The minimum skills and experience levels required for a candidate to be considered for this position include:* *General Experience: * *•Minimum nine (9)+ years of experience in application and database design and programming.* *Specific Experience:* *•Minimum of five (5) years of overall experience with SQL Server. SQL Server 2012 experience a plus.* *•Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing database objects: views, stored procedures, functions.* *•Minimum of two (2) years of experience developing SSIS packages using SQL Server BI Tools.* •Minimum of two (2) years of experience developing advanced reports using SQL Server Reporting Services. •*Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing .NET web services.* *•Minimum of three (3) years of experience using VSTS. Knowledge of Visual Studio 2012 preferred.* •Familiarity with or use of TFS. *•Experience with Microsoft MVC framework (MVC 4.0 a plus).* •Minimum one year experience with XML Schemas for data exchange. •Proven written and verbal communication skills. •Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
