Fritz, this is what I did:

$ /usr/local/bin/perl -v
This is perl, v5.8.8 built for darwin-thread-multi-2level

but ASSP says:

ASSP version 1.3.5(22.1) (Perl 5.008008) initializing

and I'm running ASSP with the same Perl, ie I start it by issuing:

sudo /usr/local/bin/perl /Applications/assp/assp.pl /Applications/assp/

so it should be using Perl 5.8.8.
