Most DLS-based (dynamic IP's) mail servers will have a huge problem
sending and receiving mail from legitimate mail servers anyway, because

highly recommended to NOT run your own mail server from such a connection.

I run my mail server from a dynamic IP and have no trouble at all. Never had an issue receiving anything, and all my sending email goes through an intermediately STMP server before arriving at the destination.

Which is the legitimate way to do it as a customer in a dynamic IP range. If you were to try to send SMTP directly, you experience the issues that Charles is describing.

But, as you point out, this can be avoided by relaying via your ISPs SMTP server.
