Yes, Steve you use the golden way, the MySQL clustering. The simple way is 
to use the Master1->Slave2, Master2->Slave1 bidirectional replication, 
which I was talking about .
I recommend using the simple way in three cases:

1. a low bandwidth connection beween the MySQL nodes
2. no DB admin is available
3. you don't want to use three systems for your simple DB

Forgive me if I've misunderstood something, but I thought MySQL 
replication was Master->Slave, and clustering was Master->Master...

I'm also running MySQL cluster, with 3 ASSP machines writing to the 
cluster, and I've never seen any (MySQL related ) errors, let alone 
this particular error....

If your running cluster, did you set the table types to NDBCLUSTER?
