Steve - HMM needs much more memory than Bayesian - what you can try, is to start assp with the following switch
--HMMDBWords:=200 or add the following line to sub 'set' in assp/lib/CorrectASSPcfg.pm $main::HMMDBWords=200; 600 is the default value. This value defines how many words are used per mail/file to build the HMM. If I remember right, you has ~ 13000 files in each corpus folder - which is realy much. It would be nice, if you could play with this value up and down - so it would be possible to autoset this value depending on the corpus size and available memory.
