Bob, I know the problem - this is fixed in the next dev release (doday).
To workaround: use the ASSP_AFC plugin - the bug is not related to it.

Hi All
Since upgrading to 2.1.1(11278) the virus scanner has behaved oddly. I
can
reliably reproduce the problem by sending an eicar test file in an email
to
myself and it doesn't get picked up (ScanLocal=on). Log shows scanning as
normal except that 0 bytes are scanned. Incoming mails from outside seem
to
scan OK sometimes, but not always, also scanning 0 bytes on occasion
Reverting to 2.0.1(3.2.15) resolves the problem. I'm new at this so I been
studying logs heavily and thinking others may have same problem and not
noticed
