Max Number of AUTHentication Errors (MaxAUTHErrors, default=5) If an IP exceeds this number of authentication errors (535) the transm ission of the current message will be canceled and any new connection from that IP will be blocked for 5-10 minutes. Every 5 Minutes the 'AUTHError' -counter of the IP will be decreased b y one. autValencePB is used for the penalty box. No limit is imposed by ASSP if the field is left blank or set to 0. Th is option allows admins to prevent external bruteforce or dictionary a ttacks via AUTH command.
