postfix on centos server
1.1.1.1 25,
2.2.2.2 25

and one assp server on debian for eg.

3.3.3.3

What an amazing amount of detailed information - we'll need a Cray
computer to process them :-( :-( :-(

there are three ways to get ASSP working

the elegant way:

1.
you are an IT professional - you know what a proxy is - you know
everything about SMTP and much about LDAP, the used database(s), the OS
and system design - you know your mail flow - you know your IP and port
configuration - you know something about perl and perl regular expressions
- you read the complete assp documentation (at least one time) to get an
idea about how assp works
If this is the case, configure assp step by step , feature by feature -
don't make mistakes - and it will work.

now the hard way:

2.
if 1. not belongs to you - write down your mail flow and your IP and port
configuration, learn Perl regular expression, READ the complete assp
documentation multiple times (if you still have no idea about how assp
works - don't use it !!), possibly print the manual and mark the important
things - the wiki also contains some nice examples and hints
Don't use (configure/change) an assp feature, if you don't know what it is
and how it works. The related RFC's and/or google may be your friend.

now the most expensive but the easy way:

3.
if 2. belongs to you - or you have simply no time for this venturous
project, but you left some coins over, than hire one that belongs to 1.

in general:

Try to keep things as simple as possible! Less (configuration) could be
more (success). An assp configuration can get complex in a way, that
nobody will understand it!

Don't try to detect/catch all spam - there is no system which can do this
for you without making other mistakes , also not a perfect configured
assp.
Reaching a spam detection level of 95% is very easy. With some effort 99%
is possible, the last percent requires in most of the cases a large amount
of time.
The time has shown, that the count of false positives can grow
exponential, if a spam detection rate of 98-99% is reached and someone
tries to catch the last one or two percent, by tweeking features.
Prevent false positives (blocked good mails) is much more important for a
business, than blocking spam ! The feature that causes the most false
positives is RBL/DNSBL if it is set to 'block' with a nearly vanilla
configuration!
Blocking in the SMTP-handshake (HELO,PTR ...) is fine. Blocking by
connection (IP) is OK. Blocking with regular expressions (spam bombs) is
also OK most of the time. The rest should be done by the PenaltyBox and
MessageScoring. If good configured, SPF is a very powerfull and exact
working feature (block strict).
Keep in mind, that assp is a self learning spamfilter. It needs to be
corrected (reporting to the EmailInterface), if it makes mistakes.
Otherwise the spam detection rate can go down rapidly and more worth, a
growing count of good mails will be blocked.
