To: Questions and Answers for users of ASSP Anti-Spam SMTP Proxy < [email protected] >
Hi,
It's more like a proxy that can stand with one Valid IP representing your internal mail servers(local IPs).
It can also be used to change the sender address of the mail sent by the internal mail servers. Another advantage is the simplified security management that can be performed on the mail server.
Yeah, it was working flawlessly until we tried to put it this way: ASSP <-> mhub ...
There's a short tip under SMTPDestination in ASSP that says:
The address:port of your message handling system's smtp server.
If only the port is entered, or the keyword __INBOUND__:port is used, then
the connection will be established to the same IP where the connection was
received. This is usefull when you have several IPs with different
domains/profiles in your MTA.
Examples: " 127.0.0.1:125", "10.0.1.3", " 10.0.1.3:1025", "__INBOUND__:125",
"125", etc.

I don't understamd what the mail hub really is - a full MTA or a proxy of some sort ?
Does it load balance or route depending on domain etc ?

Was this a working system before you tried ASSP? It looks like the mailhub needs access to all
local addresses. LDAP?

This doesn't look right - I don't think you can put mutiple addresses in SMTPDestination.
