I see the logic from both sides, and both make sense in their own way. The only thing I know for sure is this, over the past two months, the amount of false positives and missed spam submissions has tripled, with no changes to the server. So it seemed to me there was way to much variety in the spamdb. For instance, one email got blocked because it had the word "product" in it. Another for some other harmless word.

A message of 20000 has roughly 5 times the number of words compared to a message of 4000. 5 messages of 4000 gives you the same number of words but more sources. If you define e.g. maxsize 20000 some messages with this length will contribute more to the database than the average SPAM ( 4 K ) or HAM ( 8 K ). You end up with the number of messages unnessary low. (Besides that, the number of words for HAM will tend to be double that of SPAM). So reducing maxbytes gives you the possibility of handling more different messages, more sources. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
