I'm looking for means for finding out just how much our software is being used.
I have an idea of something client based which monitors who logs on, when, what software they used including startup and closure times, and when they logged off. This periodically reports back to a central server which can be queried for usage trends etc. So being that you are all experienced admins I thought I'd ask if any of you have any recommendations for the above (or at least something similar).
