But even if you accept SSL/TLS only on 465, spammers can still connect to 
that port to send email.  In fact, they already do.  My MTA currently has 
465 as SSL only, and am getting a lot of spam traffic on it.  But if I 
configure it to be AUTH only, then no valid MTA will be able to send valid 
email on it.

Hence the dilemma...
