Something like the DNS server SOA serial number right?
Serial = YYYYMMDD### where ### = the revision.

This would also have the added benefit of recording the last time a 
change was made(from the web interface).

I will throw my hat into the ring in saying that this would be a nice 
feature.

Wish I knew enough Perl to write it myself.
