I am not using any REGEX except what came in the download files for my ASSP
installtion. Should I be using more? And, will I have to become a REGEX
guru (assuming I still have enough brain cells left to do so)?

You can certain use "canned code", but the better you understand Regular Expressions, the better you will understand how you can filter things with options like the BombRe, which is a very powerful option to have once you have scrutinized the connection (IP), the HELO, the session(after delaying), etc etc. With proper BombRe Regular Expression use, you can prevent anything from getting past.

And I do mean *anything*, because it will block *anything* that you configure it to.

Ultimately it depends on how well you want to understand and control ASSP - or just leave it up to Bayesian to adapt - which desont always work and which is why options like the BombRe exist. :-)
