good question, i never used that !
seriously, i think that the approach in 2007 should be different that a few
years ago. Right now spam is 80 (90?) % of all mail flow, and mostly comes
from troyaned hosts. And the only 'report' address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] in
order
to have filtering issues investigated and solved. I return a 5xx, so the
sender knows i did not receive his mail.

i'm not big at all, i don't manage million mailboxes, not even hundres of
thousands. What i'm trying to tell is that some solutions simply don't
scale. And that you need a critical mass to do some serious filtering. If i
had a few dozen mailboxes to keep spamfree i'd delegate an external
service, not waste a resource in house. Sorry, that's not a hobby, but part
of $dayjob

What's your filtering strategy ?. And show the false positives. Where they
come from ?. Why you blocked them ?

and, most important, what's your goal ?
mine is to filter *MOST* of the spam with close to zero false positives.
I've to be cost effective. Some other guys here are way better than me and
filter almost all of the spam. But i don't know the cost and how many false
positive they get.

i can't read blocked emails. i don't even collect them. I suppose my
antivirus would collapse if it tryes to scan all the spam i receive That
strategy doesn't scale if you have more than a few mailboxes ! We don't
delete spam, we simply don't receive it and return a 55x. But i got notified
when i 'wrongly' block some legit sender. In almost every case the block is
due to some small business using a poorly managed in house mta.

what's your experience ?
