I have been using my own batch (.cmd) installer since around the same
time Anderson IT came out with that .exe installer.  As a Win32 admin, I
gotta through in my two cents here:  A static .exe installer is a bad
idea.  There are too many variables with ASSP, Perl, Modules, SF
download locations, etc - to trust a static installer.  If anything is
out of whack, you can leave an un-knowledged Win32 admin is a
problematic situation.

At leasts with a script, it can be edited for updates or to compensate
for encountered issues.

And in the past they haven't updated the installer in a timely fashion

I think we should stick with installer scripts - not applications.  My
$.02 USD.
