No, it works in Linux as well. The killall man page doesn't go into great detail about signals, but it does say: Signals can be specified either by name (e.g. -HUP) or by number (e.g. -1). To get the details on signals, use man 7 signal Note that SIGHUP and HUP are functionally equivalent AFAIK.
