I'm processing 18K messages/day on a P4 3.2 GHz Dell Optiplex desktop
running Windows 2003 Server SP1, ASSP 1.3.0 & Perl 5.8.8. It could
handle more. Most of the time is below 10% but I see occasional peaks as
high as 60-70% for a short time. I'm not running Clam AV

It sounds like the problem may be that ASSP (or Perl or both?) isn't
multi-threaded and can only run on one of the CPU's that he has and/or
that he has a RE that is CPU intensive.

This was the original question, but nobody replied to it and the user
did
not push the issue but is now looking for a replacement for ASSP.

Anybody have a comment on whether his server should be overtaxed by 50k+

emails a day? Is this too much for ASSP to handle on a Windows machine,
or
is there most likely a configuration problem or old bug that may be
causing
this?

Thanks,

Doug Traylor
