I disable my nic because I don't want to be accepting any mail during
the spamdb rebuild. Thanks for the crontab. I read about how to
register a crontab file in my Unix for Users and Programmers book that I
have been reading. It is an old book but very insightful. There is a
new edition titled Linux for Users and Programmers that was published in
2006. I don't think there would be much difference in the two books
other than stating Linux instead of Unix or stating GNU instead of Unix.
sincerely,

Hi,
I'm new to Linux and have ASSP running. It is running on Ubuntu Feisty
AMD64. I know I have to use Cron to schedule rebuildspamdb to run
weekly. How do I go about doing this?
Assuming you know how to use crontab this command will run the rebuild
at 4am every Sunday.
----------
* 4 * * Sun root /usr/bin/perl /path/to/assp/rebuildspamdb.pl -notick
----------
Also, is there a way to, via a scheduled script, disable my nic and
then re-enable it after a certain amount of alloted time? I do this
on Windows 2000 via devcon.
You can use ifconfig for this. But why?
