I would say no. I run ASSP with clamav (and for the past month also 
sanesecurity and msrbl signatures). Behind ASSP I have GFI MailSecurity; since 
new year GFI has found 5189 unique infested mails.

My experience is that ClamAV signatures are updated slower than the signatures 
used by the 4 renowned virus-engines used by GFI. This means on a day-to-day 
practice that very few infested mails go through, but if a new virus emerges 
ClamAV won't catch it right away.
