Okay, thanks.  But couldn't someone offer such a "proxy" so people can
do this -- just give people who don't have SMTP auth functions in
their current apps?  Is it that the ISPs are all switching to SMTP
auth so fast now that all the smtp apps you find online haven't
anticipated this demand, so eager to just give people "privacy and
security" by sending email *independently* of their ISPs?  So they
haven't bothered to write this sort of app?

But anyway, I know this is not necessarily the forum.  Would be
interested if my impression is correct.
