512MB seems to be good enough:
# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 504 473 31 0 109 66
-/+ buffers/cache: 297 207
Rebuilding the bayesian db takes 6 minutes 45 seconds. ~3500 messages/day.

Subject: [Assp-user] POLL: RAM
I'm trying to get a handle on how much RAM to have available for ASSP v1 setups
so:
1. I can adjust my own server up or down if it's out of whack, and
2. I can plan ahead for a couple of installs I'm hoping to do for
friends/business associates
I know there are no hard-and-fast rules for hardware requirements, but I also
know you're all running with a certain amount of RAM based on your own
experience, and in this era of Virtualization, RAM is so easy to add and remove
on the fly so it makes sense to adjust it until it's a Goldilocks-like "just
right".
So how about it? How many messages a day are you processing and how much RAM
do you have installed in your system?
I'll lead off with the stats for my 3-week-old Ubuntu VM:
1,027.4 messages/day - 512MB set aside, 302.5MB in use
Also, does anyone have any suggestions about when to consider a move to v2?
Alex
