The griplist can contribute to the total score, but will not "cause" spam to get through. The score of an ip in the griplist (the gripvalue) is based on the gripValencePB. The final score for an IP is basically the gripvalue * gripValencePB. If the gripvalue is less 0.5 it will be negative (reducing the score).
