Hey For general information, I'd suggest poking around the wiki/forums on http://assp.sourceforge.net/ Watching the mailing lists is also a good idea. Ask specific questions if you have them, though without using the software, you're probably better off just lurking and seeing what everyone else is saying As noted somewhere else, the version noted on the webpage seems to be permanently behind the times. The current (stable) version 1.x is 1.7
As for the question of ASSP v1 vs ASSP v2 v2 is the fancier fair. Plugins and multithreading and other cool and nifty toys, but it requires a stronger machine to be running it v1 is the (IMHO) workhorse. It cuts through the spam and works well for me and mine. As for the stability question, v1.7.1.2 is publicly released as stable and is the version I use. It's done very well here Last I had heard, v2 was not (formally) released as stable, but several people have said it's stable as a rock. If I had to call it something, I'd say release candidate. Please keep in mind I am only an ASSP user and not a developer or anyone with underlying knowledge of the development.
