EFS is just a "pop3 retriever" all it does is use the supplied
informations (pop3 server, user, pass, smtp server) to fetch
emails from the POP3 server and forward them to the SMTP
one; it's the same kind of job performed by "fetchmail"
although the latter is much better than EFS imHo

At any rate; while using ASSP to filter emails retrieved from
POP3 is a BAD idea imHo (you can't reject such email you
may just drop them or tag them, which makes the whole
filtering almost braindead), if you really want to do that it
would be a really good idea setting up a separate scheduled
job and use a script leveraging fetchmail (or pullmail in case
you're on windows) to download emails from whatever POP3
accounts and forward them to ASSP; in such a case ASSP
should be configured to ACCEPT (no SMTP reject error)
such messages (even if spam) otherwise you'll be in trouble
