Thanks for that.

I'm going to disable Extreme IP Spoofing = block
And see how that goes.

Will this cause issues for genuine bad IP's?

Thanks,

Shane

Still having this issue. I had
a single update from 2.0.1 (1.0.06) to 2.0.1(1.1.02) after installing, and
since then this has been showing up in the logs regularly:

Jul-26-10 08:56:53 [Worker_10000] AdminInfo: assp version check download
failed: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

Clearly the url that is being checked is invalid, but I don't see where that is
set.

Is this an issue on my end? I am able to retrieve data via http from the assp
machine on the command line with wget for instance.

Hi there,

Is your ASSP (and probably your mailserver) behind a DMZ ?
If yes, does your firewall allow your ASSP machine to access outside port 80 ?

Just my thoughts,

s.

The machine can definitely access port 80, as I said I can download via wget.
Also, the network configuration hasn't changed since I was able to update
originally.

What is the address ASSP should be accessing?

In ASSP V1 (1.7.5.7 - 0.0.12) there is

-Passing File Extensions (PassAttach)
This regular expression is used to identify attachments that should mark the
message as noprocessing. Separate entries with a pipe |. The dot . is assumed
to precede these, so don't include it.

Hi again,

from what you describe, look like ASSP itself is trying to find a file that is
simply not there.

Don't know what to tell you.
Have you tried to "wget" something from that same machine to the outside world
? Something that you know for sure that exists out there ?
Have you checked this with fritz ?

I'm trying to enable the ability to tag spamlovers via the email interface. I
have this configuration:

EmailSpamLoverAdd: spamlover
spamLovers: file:files/spamlovers.txt

I can edit the file with the button next to spamLovers in the web interface, no
problem. However, when I send an address to [email protected], I get this
in return:

error: spamLovers is missconfigured (missing file:...) - unable to add
[email protected]

Where [email protected] is the address in question.

This is ASSP 2.0.1(1.1.02) running on Ubuntu 10.04.

I think I've gotten to the bottom of it. version.txt contained this:

2.0.1(1.1.02)
versionURL:http://downloads.sourceforge.net/projects/assp/files/ASSP%20V2%20multithreading/autoupdate/version.txt
NewAsspURL:http://downloads.sourceforge.net/projects/assp/files/ASSP%20V2%20multithreading/autoupdate/assp.pl.gz

When it should contain:

2.0.1(1.1.02)
versionURL:http://sourceforge.net/projects/assp/files/ASSP%20V2%20multithreading/autoupdate/version.txt/download
NewAsspURL:http://sourceforge.net/projects/assp/files/ASSP%20V2%20multithreading/autoupdate/assp.pl.gz/download

I have a feeling this will solve the issue. Is there a way to force an update
check?

I tried that. I tried with just a comment, and I now have three lines in the
file:

postmaster
abuse
[email protected]

Still getting errors from the email interface. I haven't yet determined
whether the file is working in terms of defining spamlovers, but the web
interface can read/write it just fine.

Hi there,

I have successfully implemented ASSP after the feedback I received from Matti
Haack (Thanks!).

Now I just have a handful of issues that I am failing to understand even after
googling and reading documentation.

ASSP is currently configured in Test Mode, when I look at the logs I can see
that users sending via SMTP from remote office (in another country) are being
recorded as follows:

05110-05977 [Extreme][alltestmode] 114.143.X.X <[email protected]> to:
[email protected] [spam passed] -- -- [Unique Recruitment Solution] ->
spam/5977.eml;

I assume that if I had ASSP out of test mode this mail would be blocked?
How do I correct this - this mail is not spam but all mail from that IP is
logged as [Extreme][alltestmode.

I have a number of IP addresses that this is happening for but I guess I'll
solve this one first.

Thanks in advance,

Shane
