The terms 'only collect them' and 'collect spams' in this case are related
to 'sendAllSpam' and 'sendAllCollect'.
The description is a bit confusing I think.

Only if 'sendAllSpam' or 'sendAllCollect' is confiured and the 'RCPT TO:'
matches a trap address and 'UseTrapToCollect' is set, assp will replace
the original 'RCPT TO:' address (the trap address) with the address
defined in 'sendAllCollect' or 'sendAllSpam' and will process the mail.
If any of these conditions is not true, the SMTP handshake will never
reach the 'DATA' command and the mail will not be stored!

We need the replacement of the envelope recipient, because any further
recipient validation for trap addresses will fail (on the MTA or in assp),
An trap address could/should never be valid - so with the 'DATA' command
the mail would reach the state of 'no recipent left' and it would also
never be stored.

Hi,

I hope someone can help, I am running ASSP version 2.2.1(12313) and I am
trying to get messages sent to Spam Traps collected.

I have the following enabled:

(DoPenaltyMakeTraps) = make traps and block them

// If set to 'make traps, only collect them', the frequency of Invalid
Addresses is stored, no other action taken. If set to 'do not make them
but block' or 'make traps and block them', addresses in heavy use will act
like spamtrapaddresses (PenaltyBox Trap Addresses). If UseTrapToCollect is
also set they will work like spamaddresses and collect the mails. \\

(UseTrapToCollect) - Enabled

// If set ASSP will use addresses from DoPenaltyMakeTraps and
spamtrapaddresses to collect spams. \\

However the incoming message is bounced with an 550 5.1.1 User unknown:
and the actual message is not logged/saved in the spam folder as expected
?

What am I doing wrong ?

Regards

Matt
