Because I got several problem reports, here are the absolute minimum
requirements for the system hardware to run ASSP V2.
If Plugins are installed, the system hardware requirements could be
significant higher depending on the Plugin configuration.
If a MTA and/or a DNS-server and/or a database engine and/or an anti-virus
component is installed on the same system - the hardware requirements for
these components must be added!
for 32 Bit Perl systems:
CPU-cores : 2 - recommended are at least 4 cores
RAM: 1GB - recommended are at least 2GB
for 64 Bit Perl systems:
CPU-cores : 2 - recommended are at least 4 cores
RAM: 2GB - recommended are at least 4GB
NEVER USE V2 ON A SINGLE CPU CORE SYSTEM !!!! - THIS WILL NOT WORK
general :
- it is recommended to install Perl 5.16.3 (5.016003) or a higher Perl
version
- it is recommended to install a version 5.x of BerkeleyDB (or any higher
version) - use this for temporary runtime data -> 'useDB4griplist',
'useDB4IntCache','useDB4rebuild'
- don't use any public DNS-server - it is recommended to run two separate
local DNS-servers with DNS-root-server access, if any of the following
features is used : URIBL, DNSBL, SPF, RWL, Senderbase/WHOIS,
BackScatter-DNS
- DB: - it is recommended to use a database for the main hashes and lists
(whitelistdb, redlistdb, pbdb, spamdb, ldaplistdb, delaydb, persblackdb,
adminusersdb)
- if 'DoHMM' and/or 'DoBayesian' are used - depending on the
setting of 'MaxBytes' it could be possible that the database gets 2000 (or
even more) queries per SMTP-worker in one second
- V2 processes all data in unicode (UTF8) - never use a NON-UTF8 editor to
edit any assp file ouside the GUI
ASSP V2 is called the 'professional' version (!) - not because it is build
by IT professionals , it is build for IT professionals.
