Hi all,

if you are using assp on Windows Server 2008R2 or Windows 7 64Bit, assp
may run in to a condition were the perl process is unable to terminate or
restart. Even using the taskmanager or any other process tool does not
help - you need to restart the system.
If you change any listener in the assp configuration, the complete Perl
process may stuck - you also need to restart the system to get assp up
again.

This issue is caused by any or all of the Microsoft cumulative July
updates (KB4338818,KB4339093,KB4340556) for these OS versions.

As long as I know, only Windows Server 2008R2 and Windows 7 64Bit are
affected. Not affected are Win10 1803 64Bit and Windows Server 2016. Other
OS are currently not tested.

Microsoft knows the problem - many other software is affected by this
problem (and many other problems).

How to temporary fix this problem:

- uninstall the updates and restart the system
- delay the updates

If this is not possible for any reason - you may switch to the development
version 2.6.2 build 18201 (available today) at
https://sourceforge.net/p/assp/svn/HEAD/tree/assp2/trunk/
This version contains a workaround for the shutdown (terminate/restart)
issue - NOT for the listener configuration issue!

Thomas
