Wa`alaykumussalam berikut ini biografi Imam Baihaqy dari www.al-manhaj.com, tapi bhs inggris. semoga bermanfaat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IMAAM ABU BAKR AHMAD IBN AL-HUSAYN AL-BAYHAQEE Author: Shaikh 'Abdul-Qaadir Al-Arna'oot Source: His Checking of Mukhtasar Shu'ab-ul-Eemaan, and abridged version of Imaam Al-Bayhaqee's famous book on "The Branches of Faith" (pg. 9-11) Produced by Al-Manhaj.Com He was the Imaam, the Haafidh, the Expert, Abu Bakr Ahmad Ibn al-Husayn Ibn 'Alee Ibn Moosaa al-Khusrujirdee - the Shaikh of Khurasaan during his time and author of numerous beneficial books. He was born in Khusrujird (near Bayhaq) in the month of Sha'baan in 384H.Al-Bayhaq is a town near Naysaboor. He took knowledge from a group of scholars throughout various regions, amongst whom were: 1. Imaam Abul-Hasan Muhammad Ibn al-Husayn al-'Alawee, who was the most senior of his teachers 2. Abu Taahir az-Ziyaadee 3. Imaam Abu 'Abdillaah Al-Haakim, author of the famous book "Al-Mustadrak 'alaa as-Saheehayn" 4. Abu 'Abdir-Rahmaan as-Sulamee 5. Abu Bakr Ibn Foorak 6. Abu 'Alee ar-Roodhabaaree from Khurasaan 7. Hilaal Ibn Muhammad al-Haqqaar 8. Ibn Bishraan He learned from many teachers in Baghdad and heard hadeeth from others in Makkah and Koofah. His shuyookh (teachers) number more than a hundred. As-Subkee said: "Imaam Al-Bayhaqee was one of the Imaams of the Muslims, one of the guides for the believers and one of callers to Allaah's firm Rope. He was a noble Faqeeh (scholar of fiqh), a great Haafidh (memorizer of hadeeth), a skilled scholar of Usool (Islamic principles), a pious ascetic, a submissive worshipper of Allaah, one who stood to support and aid the (Shaafi'ee) madh-hab in matters of Usool and Furoo', and a mountain amongst the mountains of knowledge." Imaam Al-Haramayn, Abul-Mu'aalee said of him: "There was no Shaafi'ee scholar except that they owed favor to (Imaam) Ash-Shaafi'ee, except Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqee, for Ash-Shaafi'ee owed a favor to him because of all of his written works in support of his madh-hab." 'Abdul-Ghaffaar Al-Faarisee An-Naysabooree said in Dhayl Taareekh Naysaboor: "Abu Bakr Al-Bayhaqee - the Haafidh, the Usoolee, the pious worshipper, unique in his time with regard to memorization and alone amongst his contemporaries in precision and accuracy (in narrating hadeeth). He was from the major students of Al-Haakim and surpassed him in several types of knowledge. He recorded and memorized hadeeth since his early youth. And he learned fiqh, gaining expertise in that and learned the principles of Islaam (Usool). He traveled to Iraq and Hijaaz and then he began to author books. His written works number close to one thousand books - a feat no one accomplished before him. He compiled works on the Science of Hadeeth, Fiqh, and clarifying the defects of Hadeeth. The Imaams requested him to travel from his region to Naysaboor so that they could hear him read his books. So on 441H, he came (to Naysaboor) and the people arranged a gathering for him to hear the book Al-Ma'rifah being read. And the Imaams of the area attended. He was upon the way of the Scholars - being content with little and adorning himself with asceticism and piety." Ad-Dhahabee said: "If Al-Bayhaqee wanted to make a madh-hab for himself in which he could make Ijtihaad, he would have been able to do so, due to the vastness of his knowledge and his awareness of the differences of opinions." Adh-Dhahabee also said: "During the last part of his life, he traveled from Bayhaq to Naysaboor and narrated hadeeth from his books. Then death came to him on the tenth day of Jumaadaa Al-Oolaa, 458H. So he was transported in a taaboot (coffin-like box) to his land and buried there. May Allaah have mercy on him and allow him to live in ample gardens in Paradise. He left behind him almost a thousand books, amongst which are those large works in numerous volumes and amongst which are those that are small in one volume or a treatise. From the most famous of his books are: 1. As-Sunan Al-Kubraa (large collection of hadeeth) [1] 2.
