Good question... I usually log-in via the graphical login using the GB18030 locale to get a desktop which uses the GB18030 locale and then ssh from there into the Linux box to get the same locale there... AFAIK options are: - Use $ LC_ALL=zh_CN.GB18030 konsole # to run he KDE konsole terminal emulator in the GB18030 locale - luit(1) (but I didn't use it for many many years) Maybe Werner and/or Michal know better ways... ---- Bye, Roland P.S.: The original issue with the "heredoc.sh" test is not limited to the "zh_CN.GB18030" locale... it also happens in the "C" locale... -- __ . . __ (o.\ \/ /.o) roland.ma...@nrubsig.org \__\/\/__/ MPEG specialist, C&&JAVA&&Sun&&Unix programmer /O /==\ O\ TEL +49 641 3992797 (;O/ \/ \O;) _______________________________________________ ast-developers mailing list ast-developers@lists.research.att.com http://lists.research.att.com/mailman/listinfo/ast-developers
