The problem occurs in xterm (XTERM_VERSION=X.Org 6.8.99.903(238)) and the KDE4 konsole (2.3.3 KDE 4.3.5), it does not occur in the KDE3 konsole (1.6.6 KDE3.5.10). TERM=xterm in all 3 cases. The only difference in stty -a output is that the KDE3 konsole has -ixon, however setting stty -ixon in xterm or KDE4 konsole has no effect, the problem persists. The only library that is used by xterm and KDE4 konsole but not by KDE3 konsole is libutempter.so.0
