Oddly, I figured I’d have to do something like this, but I’d just not thought 
of printf. I’d searched for something like an “Output Field Separator” but I 
don’t think it exists in ksh. Totally forgot about the ‘loop-ish-ness’ of 
printf.

Thanks for this! I really need to work with printf more.
