That is definitely a better way to manage the namespace than my ideas so far. Thanks for the suggestion. It does hide the variables better, but it doesn't stop (or even make it hard) for misbehaving code to use the variables directly (In some cases I'd like to enforce the use of getter/setter functions.) What do people think of adding some way (through typeset or not) to specify a 'file' scope? Is that too radical a change for KSH93? Is that the type of thing that would have to be in some future major version? -Kyle -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.14 (MingW32) iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJMt1AHAAoJEEADRM+bKN5wzHMH/1YJfX5vE/avDwjD6ryauLct 11nyiWoOTF0uResgrcONcu/WdO5FiqhjrZDFysA6Yc+yGSsGwvvX/9YAUxc0wNUa Lvn4eEhKvz7/9uPSqSXrCFsGXhvWBerjwfHuoGX299+tbZVxbopnQn6uPKCcQvXq AorQ6HNm2GZyWyonSIkkCqgA7emt9BArale5c0+ExTIhK3DSLFUALQE5V0eILkDZ md9u9rAcKWkukaMhRiJfb4WGLbxgpnzlA1A8BqbF5002B6+Po72KQvsBhwj7iJgj JtNrkSaNkZQuoeRUlTuQdTuNpgRx5HucqHFRI6EVXjGcAtE2Z5wcVjfftGPY2LY= =1+T4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
