colleague (the amazing dr.) ek wrote a few scripts that populate the
repository from a collection of tgz files and the RELEASE files therein

right now we're working out the details of pushing the at&t internal web
repository to the external site; the external repository will be readonly,
but will provide extract, view and diff between any versions; the versions
names are YYYY-MM-DD, maintaining naming consistency across releases and 
commands
