Hello!

One Fedora user reading this mailing list asked me to notify all good folks in ast-user list that ksh package in Fedora got support for compiled ksh scripts - their binary format is registered so it's much easier to execute them.

Once you compile your script:

$ shcomp your_script.sh compiled_script

you can execute it directly

./compiled_script

because this file has some magic footprint at the begin and system recognises it and knows how to execute it.

For this, you need ksh rpm package 20120801-3 or later. This package is in standard update repositories, so 'yum update ksh' is all you need
to do.

Thanks for your attention.

Over and out.

Michal

PS: I'm not sure this notification is necessary, because I think (hope) all Fedora users know where to get their updates and how to find out what those updates bring. So, If you are Fedora user and this information had some benefit for you, let me know (off-list). Thank you.
