Watcing every other country get new toys is not what inspires
us to take
action. When we can hear the UK cash registers ringing up
sales from the
other side of the Atlantic we can get very demanding. We revolted
against the king of England and won. Make us angry enough and we will
also revolt against our own FCC.
That's a bit nave, I think. There are very large corporate interests at
work here - VERY large. They wield enough influence to tilt entire
elections in their favor if need be. Buying legislation that is in their
interest was perfected by the communications industry. Do you REALLY
think some "grass roots" movement is going to make much of a difference?
I am not naive at all. I was joking about greed being the motivation for
any new "american revolution". If our cash registers are quiet here it
might actually be louder than the "shot heard around the world" was.
