Many folks swear by the Cisco range of phones. They are relatively cheap
at around US$280 each and can come in a variety of flavours.
The "standard" phone would be a 7960. The "executive" would be a 7980
(its got a colour screen) and the "basic" would be a 7940.
I like them because they can be "branded" to your organisation. The
large LCD display can have things like your corporate logo diplayed on
it; management like all that crap.
You can also do things like add to the ringtone pool and add XML type
web pages for local info like weather or the company stock price.
Try voipsupply.com (speak to Garret) for exact prices.

We are a municipality with 400 phones on an old proprietary phone PBX.
Our initial look as Asterisk (installed and running 5 phones) is working
well and we hope to utilise it throughout the organization. One of our
next steps is to pick a phone set manufacturer that we can standardize
across the enterprise. I believe we are a typical organization with
three levels of handsets depending on the job function. I expect someone
has already gone down this road of enterprise phone set selection and
would like to hear about any results they would share with us. Please
