My daughter in Austin TX got a TV/phone/internet bundle from the cable
company 8 days ago. So far I still get the name of the previous
subscriber. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for new CNAM
to propagate. She got an unlimited calling package so I have her calling
3 different DID's every day. I have an extension for this purpose:
exten => 14,1,Wait(1)
exten => 14,2,SayPhonetic(${CALLERIDNAME})
exten => 14,3,Wait(1)
exten => 14,4,SayDigits(${CALLERIDNUM})
exten => 14,5,Hangup
I also have one using phpagi and tts but it needs some intuitive logic
added to deal with unpronounceable names.

I have a couple of DIDs with Viatalk, they provide CNAM and they don't use
an accurate lookup. I have one LEC provided line and it doesn't show the
correct name and I have had that number for about 5 months.

It should take 0. CLECs are not supposed to cache results of CNAM lookups.
(according terms of service of people who run CNAM databases). However,
most CLECs do anyway, since CNAM lookup costs money.
I have a strong suspicion that some CLECs are _not_ using the same SS7
database as they are supposed to be. Before I moved away from Phoenix, I
had telephone service provided by the cable company (Cox). Not only were
there CNAMs frequently wrong due to looking up the wrong number, when
they did look up the right number they often provided an 'old' name for
that number.
They would never admit this, of course, but I believe they are using an
'alternative' CNAM database which costs less to query, and also is crap
:-) In fact, another CLEC that I buy PRIs from has told me that when I
send them CNAM updates it can take quite some time for all other LECs to
start showing the new name.
