"Dell'Oro Group's latest report, forecasting a three-fold increase in IP PBX sales to a projected $2 billion by 2010. Combined IP-PBX and Hybrid IP/TDM PBX sales are projected to gain share over traditional PBX offerings due to the widespread adoption of IP centric platforms by businesses, and the growing usage of VoIP services.

"The conversion to VoIP is the dominant factor in the enterprise voice market over the next several years," said Steve Raab, Director of IP Telephony Research for Dell'Oro Group. "Modernizing the installed base of traditional PBX technology to IP telephony requires coordinated investment in data networking and enterprise voice equipment. During this technology transition, Hybrid IP/TDM PBXs that embody newer IP and legacy TDM technology will represent a majority of sales," added Raab.

The report also projected that sales of IP telephones would exceed $4 billion by 2010 due to the same movement toward conversion to IP telephony across the business and residential markets."
