Well Gregory, the reason they don't just jump is.... 1.) Fat start-up cost and non-stable pricing .. we've seen Dash911 almost quadruple their start-up fee, and increase the monthly price at least 3 times since service was announced.
2.) The questionable service reliability. All the dash911 types are start-ups too, or at least very new to the the biz of offering 911. This makes me kinda cringe at the thought of what kind of liability problems might arise. regards David On 3/7/06, Gregory Giagnocavo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > There are several companies offering 911 emergency calling services for VoIP. > There are basically two footprints of coverage in the USA - provided by > Level3 or provided by Intrado. > > The FCC "VoIP 911" Order, paragraph 40 provides exceptions for offering basic > 911, or calls directly to an emergency call service center in some areas, in > areas that can not accept enhanced E 911 calls. > > There have many many discussions on coverage of basic vs enhanced 911, but > the bottom line is, it is what it is.
